robot restaurant

In Shinjuku, packed amongst the crowded streets of lights, Japanese pimps, and mayhem, there's a little place called Robot Restaurant.  It's advertised around Tokyo by cars towing not so little robot ladies with not so little breasts.  After descending a couple of floors to a reflective, neon tomb, sampling the meal, and having my brain almost short circuited by the overload of glow sticks, scantily clad women, and yes, dancing robots, it's a fair assessment to say that the price of admission wasn't for the food...

Valentine's Day (one week late)

I intended this for Valentine's day, but alas, I missed it by a week.  Happy belated day of love, flowers and reasons to buy Hallmark cards and boxes of chocolates.  And for those who are anti V-day, happy anti all of that!

lady in red

Beautiful sunlight, beautiful subject.  Allison, looking badass in her red dress and shades, waits to attend an awards luncheon.

Having failed miserably at my color assignment in grad school,  I'm always on the lookout for pictures where color is 'important.'  It's been 7 or 8 years now, as a fellow photoj friend said, perhaps it's time to let go!  Or maybe, we should learn from our failures but not obsess about them...there's a life lesson in there somewhere.  In any case, for the red, the light, and simply being so cool (hot?), Allison is my pic of the day.

changing of the sign

In London there's the changing of the guard.  In LA, the equivalent might be the changing of the Apple sign.  Ok, not really.  But dominating Sunset Blvd (on the Sunset Strip), dwarfing the hundreds of other large billboards, is a vertical giant that Apple has owned for as long as I can remember, and is different every time I see it.  Well, this time I caught them changing the sign.  It was about as exciting as one would expect, though I did get waves from the construction workers, and I impulsively blew them a kiss, which they cheered at.  It was certainly the excitement of my day!
